Product Marketing

I have launched over 100+ products from concept to life cycle management of the products. I’ve led on products across various sectors from Tangible Products, Services to Software as a Service SAAS. As part of that experience I’ve tested products, led market research, created brands and sub-brands, created product packaging, organised PR, setup e-commerce platforms across 3 different countries, UK, Poland and Hong Kong. I’ve led marketing PPC campaigns, SEO drives and website developments. My experience also includes the video production, training videos and even creating a knowledge base as a hub for training for the newly launched products.

Working with Manufacturers

By working with the manufacturers I was able to customise, brand and package the products more cost effectively than if they were shipped to the UK. Working with the Sales Team and Directors, products were tested in the UK by our engineering team. The products were also tested by our customers, and delivering the feedback to ensure we developed the right products. I also used these prototypes for photoshoots and to create better product manuals, videos ready for the launches and for product packaging.

Custom Branding

Ensuring a consistent brand element across all our products from engraving, printing and etching. The CAD drawings were useful for Product Manuals, and specification documents for Government and commercial contracts.

Bespoke Packaging

I worked with the manufacturer’s to provide samples, so we could create much more accurate product packaging. I organised photoshoots, or took the photos myself. I created the box artwork, from either die-cuts or created packaging from scratch. With this brand I created completely new branding to be much more consistent. Previously the artwork was just badged up to be blue and could have been one of three versions of the logo. Previous artwork was inconsistent, really out of date and very difficult to read. I also managed videoshoots, photoshoots and product manuals across x7 languages. And got them loaded across x3 different websites. For this brand I created around 80 sets of product packaging so that when it was presented at Trade Exhibitions there was a consistent visual approach and the orange helped to draw attention to the artwork and stand rather than using Navy blue which did not draw attention.

Photo and video shoots

Organised various photoshoots for ‘trade/engineering’ photos as well as product shots for websites. These photos were then used across RS Components, ScrewFix, Toolstation and various other outlets, in both web and magazines. Often the samples that came across were different to the final versions of the product development. I photoshopped where neccesary to give an accurate reflection of the product for launch.

Sub-Branding Packaging

Customised product packaging for a new sub-brand, I launched x4 new leisure products including creating all the packaging, illustrations and icons for the manuals and packaging.

Building Beyond Commerce

I built this e-commerce website that encouraged sales through tutorials of complex products, hosted knowledge base features and could link into a complex ERP system with 30,000+ products and variations. I also merged the data from three different websites to connect into this one site to focus our SEO. I then set up a specific e-commerce email platform to enhance sales through automation emails, forgotten carts and training campaigns.

Knowledge Base Creation to Ensure Specification

Creating this knowledge base to hold accreditation information, how to guides, training videos, FAQs and an online academy. This was powerful adoption tool to showcase how to use complex products and avoid issues with installations for these various products. One of the challenges was the proper installation and getting products specified projects. Once products are specified into a project it was almost guaranteed that the manufacturer would win the purchase order at the start of the project.

App Development and Prototyping

Using Adobe XD to create these visuals for a proposed app, this helped to bring to life the concept and develop the business case. By creating 30 or so key pages it enabled the team to think through the functionality of how the app would work. By mapping these pages out it also helps to reduce development costs as we could work to a MVP, (Minimal Viable Product) and work in stages of development. This development would lead to increased sales and effectively stop our customers shopping around as we became the sole supplier for all their product needs.
